So I missed the Broadway Princess Party at 54 Below. I have my excuse ready: I was out of town, and even if I’d been in town, the tickets were pretty pricey. But that doesn’t mean I wasn’t bummed when I realized I couldn’t go, because let’s face it, I am a Broadway nerd who was raised on Disney, and princess songs are in my blood. My friend calls Alan Menken her first voice teacher, and it is so, so true. This princess party was hosted by Laura Osnes, who won a Tony for her turn as Cinderella on Broadway. She’d left the show by the time I saw it, but she sounded like the perfect host for an evening of Broadway women singing princess songs.

But once I realized I couldn’t make it to the show, I shrugged and went on with my life. These things happen here in New York City — there are always a million-and-one things you could be doing, and some of them are one night-only events, so of course you’re going to miss out on things all the time, even when you’re being careful to say yes to everything. Missing out is just part of life in NYC.

Except. Except yesterday a link popped up on my newsfeed and I realized that someone had filmed and posted all the songs from the Broadway Princess Party. And I watched all of them.

Thank goodness for the internet. Because of it, we all can see things we wouldn’t have otherwise. Whether you live here in NYC or somewhere else, you too can check out the Broadway Princess Party. The full playlist is below, and the performances are SO great — gorgeous voices and great presentation. A few songs had me laughing out loud, and I think Elsa’s special rendition of “Let It Go” was probably my favorite . . .

But don’t take my word for it! Do you like theater? Do you like Disney songs? Do you like almost-Disney songs, like songs from “Anastasia”, or songs mashed up with Disney songs, or . . . well you get the picture. If any of this sounds appealing to you, watch the playlist below! And next time you think you’ve missed out on something, check the internet. Bet it’s there somewhere!
